The Eritrean People
The most widely used language in Eritrea is called "Tigrinya". Though the nation is host to over 50 languages, most choose this dialect. The family life of Eritreans can differ. For the most part, traditional gender roles are at play, but they sometimes change based on the work that needs to be done. There is very much a cultural divide between Eritreans and immigrant Ethiopians. Prejudices from the civil war still linger, and thus Eritrean society is split. https://ethnomed.org/culture/eritrean/eritrean-cultural-profile https://www.flickr.com/photos/charlesfred/230258797/in/photolist-aFPUA-xgjqg-aFPT4-xgiLT-aFPUf-aFPUU-aFPQT-aFPSV-xgjxi-4UF1R-xgiGS-mm8Vg-4UES9-xmFtv-xgjdD-4UEyA-4UF1N-4UESa-xmFqm-4UF4v-4UF1Q-4UES6-4UESb-4UEyz-4UF4s-4UES7-4UFh2-4UF4r-xgjrF-xgj5L-4UFpP-xgjsQ-4UFh3-4UFcV-xgjtZ-xgiPr-xmFxh-xgiRB-xgjhW-xgjbF-aFPSL-xmFBv-aFPQt-aFPRJ-mm8XF-aFPRx-aFPV6-xmFna-4UF4u-4UEyB

History
Eritrea began as a territory of the Ethiopian kingdom of Aksum, until the 8th century when the kingdom weakened. Later, Italian forces took control until WWII. After being passed around by numerous European powers, it was declared an Ethiopian province in 1962. A civil war broke out, and didn't until 1993 when a treaty was signed and Ethiopia relinquished control. Though the peace didn't last for long. In 1998, border disputes turned to war and left 80,000 dead. https://ethnomed.org/culture/eritrean/eritrean-cultural-profile |
